we move to kulim..finally....

-last day kami kt felda ijok yg bersejarah ni...abah dah pencen at the age of 55 years old. km terima jer keputusan abah memandangkan kami semua dah kerja and ada duit sendiri. tinggal cik najah sorg je..2 pon dia ada allowance matrix.
- i think monetary proble, InsyaAllah solve, mybe x senang sgt, tp x ssh sgt mcm kami kecik2 dl..
- Felda ni mmg da jd darah daging kami adik beradik. more than 20 years km dibesarkan kt dlm Felda..n Ijok will be the last...

7.45 am
-dr ipoh, aku terus cargas ke ijok..sayu jgk tgk jalan2 yg mungkin aku dah xkan lalu lagi...(memandangkan aku pun ada niat nk migrate p oversea (eceh2)
- smpai umah dlm kol 10.00..dah ramai kawan2 mak kt rumah.
-tgh tunggu lorry, barang2 pon da abis masuk dlm kotak2. aku da mati kutu, x tau nk wat apa. mengantuk 2 mmg da x ble dipisahkan dr bijik mata..hehee

-cargas p Desa Aman( our new home) memandangkan my sis and my bro da ada kt cna. p lepak kt cna ok gak...
- amik gambar2 umah...salam kawan2 mak...

-sampai desa Aman, mak njang pon da ada.. lepak2 bukak gebang ngan kak cik memandangkan dt sbln x jupe cake boss sorg 2.
-tggu mak yg lorry sampai2..

- rombongan cik kiah felda ijok pon sampai. terima kasih banyak2 kt warga felda ijok yg banyak sgt tolong kami.. from now on...current city:kulim..so saya org kedah...
- kami wat makan2 kt umah( housewarming la kunun)..i2 pon depa yg masak.

-rombongan besurai..so acara mengemas rumah la..kesian tgk abah. x berenti2...
- rumah idaman abah hampir2 jd kenyataan..mmg nmpak abah all out..perabot ngan accecories (lampu, kitchen cabinet) pehh..x bole blah
-tapi pkir its his time pas 30 thn besusah payah keje utk besarkan kami
- aku rasa sedih plak kalo x bleh bg kt abah atleast 100-200 sebln...
-hopefully ble la bg kt abah at least Rm 100, busuk2 pon RM 50 kt mak wat beli baju...

-sbb family da berkumpul semua, km nk kua dinner. mula2 nk p Juru, tp abah x larat, so km p Mutiara junjung Kulim..
-hampehh..lembab x ingat...(next time x de da la dtg cni)
-mknn bole thn la sodap..tp sbb lembab, reject sehh..

so...hari pertama officially at desa aman passed by..Hopefully mak and abah enjoy their retire life...jadi org yg beriman..masa2 yg tinggal digunakan utk loving each other N beribadah..amin...

Cofee

tghari tadi tiba2 teringin nk minum cofee bean..x tau nape..standard hujung2 bulan ni mesti teringin nk mkn yg mahal2...biskut famous amos pon dok berlegar2 dlm otak sbb masa p putrajaya ari 2 la..x lepas nk beli (kenangkan budget yg makin constraint). tapi baju bleh plak beli heheehe.

tiba2, Alhamdulillah claim milage p PD ngan hp claim masuk..apa lagi tghari cepat2 aku cargas ke jusco. lagipon mmg ada niat nk duplicate kunci keter sbb satu da rosak.

lepas duplicate kunci, terus masuk ke cofee bean dan oder hazelnut ice blend ngan kek apentah. tapi sayang la cake 2 x berapa sedap.

aku ni mmg addicted to coffee ckit. sbb 2 la bila da berduit ni jadi penunggu setia oldtown. kalau bajet lebih, tgk la cofee dunkin donut/ big apple/ secret recipe. Dome pon pnh try sekali je..mahal gila.lagipon Dome x de kt ipoh.

skg ni dengar2 oldtown x halal, kurang la lagi satu tmpt lepak (kt c2 ada WiFi). aku boleh lepak 3 jam kt oldtown. asal ada netbook aku, gambar2 site ( sbb tgh wat documentation ckit). dulu2 plak (masa arwah kak falah ada lagi) old town medan gopeng 2 jadi tmpt perjumpaan mingguan. sembang2, gossip2, even pernah sambut new year 2010 kt c2.

banyak sejarah aku ngan oldtown medan gopeng 2, tp x boleh la nk bgtau kt cni semua. ada yg setengah menjadi memori yg aku ingat smpai bila2.

eeh, rase awal2 tadi citer pasal addicted to coffee, skg boleh terbukak nostalgia plak..cehhhh. rasa2 cm ptg ni nk p cari famous amous kot.. sedapnyerrrr,

how to began this part.... i'll start with a few facts that i get from other people :

  1. usually, earthworks is been done at early stage of construction. to receive platform level and to ensure soil are well compacted.
  2. at my project (right now), to save money, no earthwork at early stage construction. it is decided to do at last stage of construction (right now)
problems:
  1. clash with other progress of work at site (concreting/ excavation/material on site)
  2. no clean soil for backfilling (contains contruction debris)
  3. .....................ntah banyak sgt kot sampai x terhabaq chek..
  4. actually masa panggil sub con masuk, boundary utk eartwork pon belum decide lagi. maklumla bende2 ni is COST.actually site boundary ni besar gak. tgk Arena bg harga lump sum utk earthwork+ turfing near RM500,000 termasuk demolish existing building.
  5. no surveyor (from main con) so x ada boundary, X ada OGL utk determine finish level for earthwork.
  6. x ada suitable tempat untuk dump execessive soil.
construction stage:
  1. mula2 km decide supaya diorg wat clearance 10m dr tepi jalan ngan earthdrain ( aku rasa utk elakkan depa idle & at least we seen something)

* earthdrain is penting untuk surface runoff . elakkan air pergi ke jalan.

  1. pas 2 suh diorg wat clearance in building area. backfilling tempat yg rendah (STP & tepi tadika). STP ngan Tadika mmg super rendah, banyak betoi nk backfill. mostly tanah dr bangunan ler sbb area bangunan tanah tinggi.

  1. termasuk gak cut area2 block G2&G6( nnti aku pos ler mana G2, G6 bagai ehehe). mmg kalau tgk first, bgnn mcm dok dlm kawah, rendah..

  • cabaran kt bangunan, material on site la, scaffold, stockpile pasir, pipe2..maklumla subcon infra (longkang& water rec masih galak jalan keje yg pending dkt 1/2 tahun). kalo scaffold sapa lg En Rc punya lerr.
  • masa ni coordination penting la, mn patut nk longgok barang2 subcon lain, pastu kn suh depa alih barang2 ngan pnoh berhemah.
  • da siap backfill..setelah ding dong2.. site boundary finalize..En Arena Perintis menghentam kawasan hutan simpan kem syed putra tanpa belas kasihan terhadap flora dan fauna. 2 excavator, 2 dump truck. br 1st day start, abis paip air,wayar letrik kena hentam (deja-vu zon 1)

  1. problem plak kt cni: rc x nk alih sampah sarap depa. da bg memo. mmg la bkn sampah2 depa..last2 it is decided to arena korek lubang & humban semua. backcharge diorg (En Rc 70%,tiler 20%,lain 10%) hahaha
  2. we decided utk wat satu landfill (konon) kt belakang project area( tgk master plan) tmpt yg x terlibat dengan future developement, so situ tempat yg akan kami tanam segala sisa2 buangan dari proses demolishing bangunan n sampah2 dlm site
  3. my boss said it is very costly if we transport all the unsuitable outside, but i think it is a scarification for the sake of environment. tapi sapa nk dengar young engineer opinion kan..

so far x de dengar lagi kes water table tinggi or somewhat like that. bigger issue is just level, earthdrain yg perlu dijoin ngan existing earthdrain utk waterflow....

this year muvie..

now its end of June, mmg banyak muvi yang da ditengok dengan bermacam2 orang. kt cni I post the best muvie that i've seen so far. by ranking (my ranking) tau bukan by time.

karate kid. two thumbs up antara cerita yg memang aku tunggu lepas tgk preview dia. jaden smith mmg best. jackie chan mmg my all time favourite hero. citer ni tgk kt GSC Alamanda. tgk plak ngan kawan2 (masa mini reunion yg sgt bersejarah). kalo tgk sekali lg pun sanggup.

sipnosis: dre parker (jaden smith) pindah ke china. & jadi mangsa buli. so Jackie Chan ajar dia utk masuk tournament. dia menang dan x kena buli lagi. tambah lg sorg hero aku (pas ayah dia will smith)

Ip man (bukan I.P .man) cerita epik ckit ler. ip man ni tok guru Bruce Lee. citer ni sambungan Ip Man 1. dia pindah ke hongkong and nk bukak pusat kungfu. tp ada la cabaran2. citer ni more kpd mempertahankan culture china la. klimaks dia, sorg mat salleh hina kungfu cina & org cina. so sorg tok guru kungfu 2 lawan dan mati. so Ip man nk balas dendam. akhirnya dia menang...eeh minggu ni supposed Ip Man 3 kuar, tp kt GSC je kot. TGV xde..alamakss..

CCTV test (sewer line)

  • CCTV test is a test to detect crack in sewerline. Indah water requirement is 10% from total length of sewerline. but, at zone 1 we decided to do it 100% due to the seweline length is consider not massive.
  • actually, our sewer is use semi aeration system which is not approved by IWK, but due to this is an private area, we dont have to apply an approval from IWK. so this test is conducted as a procedure and requested from client and consultant.
procedures :
  1. a certain company specialist in this test appointed.
  2. they will set up their apparatus accordingly
  3. we should ensure that sewer line are clean from debris
  4. pump out water from sewer line
  5. prepare construction drawing too.

Road works and earthwork

A road is an identifiable thoroughfare, route, way or path between two places which may or may not be available for use by the public

Road construction requires the creation of a continuous right-of-way, overcoming geographic obstacles and having grades low enough to permit vehicle or foot travel. and may be required to meet standards set by lawor official guidelines.

this is my favourite part in construction stage. roadworks and earthworks are put under infra works. i think this part is the most challenging during construction stage because its deal with nature, good planning and proper work arrangement. even roadworks at my site is not massive as highway construction, but i still learn a lot.

reminder
* road and drainage must be in same direction interm of progress. it is better to finish drainage before we call for roadworks sub-con to start their work. or it is better award both of work to the same sub-con (it will be easier for main con)
* check a road level as stated in drawing with actual condition on site. maybe it need a little adjustment
* it is better for earthwork done before building constructed. it will give a good platform level, good compaction and construction debris will not available in soil.

roadworks stage.

1. platform level. (cutting/backfilling) to receive road level
  • at our site, most of road alignment involved cutting work ( OGL is higher than road level). at this stage, the challenge is more to planning of work ( where to start, what should start first, what we should remove and timeline. machinaries involved are excavator ( a must), backpusher and compactor.
2. road excavation.
  • it is follow a spec from consultant. at our site is is type 1, which consist of 100mm of sand, 375mm of crusher run, 60mm wearing course and 40mm binder course. so total excavation is 575mm.
  • deeping- is a part to checking excavation is fullfilled or not. by pegging at left,centre and right of the road. using measuring tape, measure the excavation level. due to chambering, centre must be at least 500mm, left and right shoul be 575mm.
  • compaction is a must before deeping. if we notice something unfamiliar (soft soil/high water table) do a testing, at our site, we notice soft soil at certain area. so our RE decided to conduct probe mackintosh test at certain point. from the probe result it will be decided what kind of treatment will be used.
  • at one point (near TNB 2) a treatment using sand 600mm is been used, make excavation is 1.1m. because it is so soft and water table are high.
problem:
  • some part, drainage are still not done, so water get stagnant and soil get watery, if crusher run are layed, it getting soaked (not good)
  • it is an alternatif to construct temporary earth drain to flow the water out from road
  • drainage not properly done, so temporary earth drain to flow out water from road allignment.
  • actually, we need this road to be done, to replace our temporary access, because still a lot of infra works (drainage, TNB, sewerage) will be at layed at temporary acess.
  • what i learn here, progress of work should be properly monitored.
3. testing
  • certain test should be carried out to ensure the quality of roadworks and to prevent future problem.
  • Mackintosh Probe
- carried out due to certain area of excavation, we detected a very soft soil. RE suggested to carry out a mackintosh probe. 3m depth or 400 blow over 1ft (whichever come first)

- the result were compared and the decision only one area (about 50m long) need treatment (600mm sand backfilling)

  • CBR test (california bearing ratio)
- is a test for subgred strength
- it should be more than 5% at penetration 5mm

4. compaction
  • it is a very important stage in road construction
  • start with compaction of subgrade. using 30 tonne compactor.
  • 375mm crusher run is also divided into 2 layer (200mm and 175mm) to ensure compaction going well at this part.

obstacles:
  1. before we called roadwork sub-con, we already called for infra M&E subcon for street lighting and telecom to start their work, but they cannot commit to it. so, we proceed to roadworks first.
  2. when finish level crusher run done, M&E subcon start their work. because their excavation and location of their pipe at side table (3m) and excavation has ruined half of the road and side table.
  3. compaction damage, crusher run also teared (due to their machinaries). C&S consultant have to instruct new rectification method and it involve cost and time. rectification is to re-excavate 2m length (from side table). and lay again sand, crusher run and compact again.
  4. due to drainage progress cannot catch up with roadwork progress, a lot of problem occured such as :- during excavation for drainage (crossing between building and at temporary access) all the transport for concreting, lorry to supply material use a not complete road, that cause a lot of trouble. 300mm crusher run layer completely disappear, road completely damage (as per attached picture).
  5. due to that, we has to considered a treatment using geotextile ( there goes my 6 month bonus)
  6. we can see that, the road become worst day by day ( it started about 30/5- 4/06/2010)
  7. for temporary, it just being compacted and lay with used premix. the rectification will be done after all the crossing and infra works done.

it became worst due to raining day...

* this situation also occur due to unproper drainage at side table. water ponding at centre of the road, soil became soft, and when heavy workload use it ( lorry/machinaries), it will be teared up.
* conclusion - if you fail to plan, it a plan to fail....
